Discovery Science
This year Kilgarvan Central School is working towards an “Award of Science and Maths Excellence” under the Discovery Primary Maths and Science scheme. Already we have undertaken some exciting experiments and we will be making many more thrilling discoveries as the year goes on. All our work will be entered in a log book which will be submitted to the judging panel in May 2014.
MS Readathon (October 11th – November 11th)
The Kilgarvan Central School pupils took part in the MS Readathon. The Readathon is a sponsored read for young people. It encourages young people to read while raising money to help people with MS and their families.
Maths Week
Maths Week Ireland 2013 took place from 12th – 20th October. Maths Week Ireland promotes awareness, appreciation and understanding of maths through a huge variety of events and activities. As part of maths week, the children in Kilgarvan Central School played computer maths games, board maths games and engaged in other maths activities that involved 2-D and 3-D shapes, measuring, capacity etc.
