Blessing of Advent Wreath, Christmas Trees and Crib – December 2014
Fr. Con Buckley blessed our Advent wreath, Christmas trees and crib in the school hall on Thursday, 11th of December. The whole school joined in the ceremony and sang some Christmas carols. Eva Gadsden and Bríde Breen switched on the Christmas tree lights.
Christmas Plays
Junior and Senior Infants performed the Story of Baby Jesus during our Christmas mass on Wednesday, December 10th. On Tuesday, December 16th, 1st – 6th classes performed their plays in the school hall. It was a very enjoyable experience for everyone.
Radio Kerry
On Friday, December 12th, Radio Kerry Presenter Mary Fagan came to the school. Mary presents the show “Horizons” every Sunday morning on Radio Kerry. She made a recording of all the classes for the show. These recordings will be aired on Radio Kerry’s Horizons programme on Sunday, December 21st from 9am – 10am and on Christmas Day, December 25th from 10am – 11am. Don’t forget to tune in!
Community Games Modelling Competition
- U-8 Girls – 2nd Rhianna Gadsden
- U-10 Girls – 1st Saoirse Buckley, 2nd Mia Gadsden
- U-12 Girls – 1st Eva Gadsden, 2nd Kathy Cronin, 3rd Niamh O’ Sullivan
- U-14 Girls – 1st Christine McCarthy
- U-10 Boys – 1st Callum Buckley
- U-14 Boys – 2nd Aaron Buckley, 3rd Jonathan Cronin
The extremely talented McCarthy sisters both won the County Community Games art competition which was held in Listowel on Saturday, 2nd March 2013. Beth came first in the U-8 competition while Christine won the U-14 competition. Both girls will represent Kerry in Athlone in May. Obair an-mhaith a chailiní.
